Character Fan Mix
Mar. 23rd, 2013 10:38 pmFor my mix, I ran with an idea that the plot bunnies came up with. We don't know much of anything about what Nell did before she came to NCIS. Add to that the fact that she knows Nate from somewhere in her past, I've begun to fill in my own blanks.
This mix is based on a collection of songs that I imagine Nell listening to after her first week of NCIS. I picture her curled up on her sofa, laptop on her lap, a glass of wine beside her. She's alone, and doubting her decision to come the LA. On the bookshelf beside her she had a picture of her and her husband on their wedding day. Draped over it is a chain with two wedding rings on it. Beside the photo is a folded flag in a wood and glass case. It's all that she has left after bad intel got her husband killed a month after their wedding. They had been in Afghanistan together - and had met Nate there. She was working as an analysis, and he was in special ops. She thought the intel was bad, and they fought over him going out. But in the end she had let him go. She had let them all go. He was the only one that didn't come back. Nate helped her get the job in LA. Beside the ocean, the one thing that her husband had loved more that her - there she thought that she could heal. But instead she was as broken as ever, and still missing him. She wasn't sure that she would ever be more than a small town girl who had been knocked down by the world.
